Adopt a Kenyan Village against COVID-19
Donation protected
Kijiji Yeetu asks for your donation within the months of May and June so that Kijiji Yeetu, can provide food, masks, clean water and provide items for 10 villages with a target for 100 families. These families need the assistance to survive the current corona crisis.
Hi, my name is Katya Rangadass. I am a rising Senior at American University majoring in International Studies and currently interning with Kijiji Yeetu based in Nairobi, Kenya. Kijiji Yeetu has documentation of stories surrounding Coronavirus (Covid-19) and how it is affecting villages. Partnering with Ushahidi, here you can see the villages affected: COVID19 Village actions in Kenya . This link shows current stories, research, and documents on Covid-19. From this, we are also able to attain feedback and learn how to better support these villages and overcome their challenges. Please take time to support this cause and donate to this wonderful organization.
Kijiji Yeetu is a Non-Profit organization activating village resources, knowledge, and inspiration into the development of villages within Kenya. The Kenyan County and village assessment on April 2020 study shows that 99% of residents are aware of the coronavirus outbreak. The graph below depicts current initiatives being taken by residents in villages to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in their communities.

Despite these initiatives, further actions need to be taken to overcome the economic hardships caused by Covid-19. Government resources are limited and over 56% of residents in villages don't have access to financial support.
With this GoFundMe, started by Kijiji Yeetu, and with your help and donation to this cause, 10 villages and 100 families will be supported. In Kenya, businesses have been affecting people's incomes, women lack sanitary pads and children lack food and public education. All funds given will help to provide meals, sanitary materials for women (and include face masks for everyone). If we gain enough, it could also contribute to online education funding for children.
Please note that
$10 Provides 5 masks for a family or can feed a family of around 5 for 2-3 days.
$20 Provides 10 sanitary packets for 10 families.
$20 Provides 10 Gb data for children in 5 families to access educational online learning.
$40 Provides a family of 5 people provided with food for 1 month.
$50 Provides 2 hand-washing stations for 1 village
$100 Provides 4 hand-washing stations for 4 villages.
Any donation counts and we, at Kijiji Yeetu, hope that you can help those in need.
While the virus continues to spread, we need these donations now more than ever.
