Since 2023, I have traveled to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic twice a year to volunteer at Dove Youth Development Center. It's a mission from the heart; I love spending time with the children and I have seen first-hand how education, mentorship and loving care can open doors that once seemed impossible.

In Puerto Plata too many children face extreme poverty and high risk of exploitation. They must deal with hunger, unsafe streets, and a future with few opportunities. Dove changes that story by providing a safe place to learn, nutritious daily snacks, school supplies and funding for education and vocational training for future job opportunities. When one child is supported, the entire family benefits, from reduced financial strain to improved outlooks on the future.

On each visit I give of my time, skills and resources. Now I want to multiply that impact. That is where you come in. The goal is to raise $10,000. Every dollar raised here will go directly toward strengthening Dove's programs that help students thrive. By donating, you will be giving these young people the chance they deserve.

The building that now serves as home to Dove Youth Development in Puerto Plata stands as a testament to the unwavering determination and vision of Melissa, the founder of Builders for Change. Melissa’s passion for making a difference was the driving force behind this project; without her leadership, this vital space for youth would not exist today. Tragically, Melissa lost her battle with cancer four years ago at the age of 32. Her legacy lives on through Builders for Change, with her parents continuing her inspiring work and ensuring that her commitment to empowering others endures.
