Helping the Children of Buigiri Primary School, Tanzania

Today we visited Buigiri Primary School in Tanzania and it’s a visit we will never forget.

The school is drastically overcrowded, with over 1,000 children and an average of 140 students per classroom. The teachers do everything they can, but the school is severely underfunded, and the children simply do not have the basic resources they need.

Yet despite having so little… these children are some of the happiest, most grateful and joyful kids we have ever met.

They have no footballs, no toys, no games, nothing to play with except each other and their own imaginations. But their smiles are huge, and their kindness is unbelievable. It breaks your heart and lifts it at the same time.

What We Are Raising Money For

Our goal is to make a real, long lasting difference for these children.

1. A Sports Area for All the Students

We want to build:

• A football pitch

• Basketball hoops

• Netball hoops

This would give the children a safe place to play, exercise, develop teamwork and confidence, something every child deserves.

2. Urgent Support for the Special Needs Class

We also visited the special needs classroom which is, again, severely underfunded.

We met a young disabled boy whose legs do not function. He receives almost no medical support and currently has no walker or wheelchair. He moves by using his arms to crawl across the floor. Other disabled children in the class are also missing essential items needed for everyday life.

The teachers are preparing a list of urgent needs (mobility aids, sensory items, educational tools) so we can make sure these children finally get the support they deserve.

3. New School Uniforms, Shoes & Backpacks

Many children had ripped uniforms, broken shoes or no shoes at all, and most had no school bag. We want to provide:

• New uniforms

• Sturdy shoes

• Backpacks

• Basic supplies that give the children dignity and comfort at school.

If We Raise More… We Will Do More

This GoFundMe is specifically to fund the sports pitch and equipment for the special needs class.

But if we raise more, we will continue to support the school in every possible way, classrooms, books, toys, stationery, clothing, repairs and more. Every penny goes directly to the children.

We are returning next year, and anything left over will be spent on:

• Toys

• Stationery

• Books

• Clothes

• Shoes

• Classroom supplies

Nothing will be wasted.

Separately from this GoFundMe, we also support poorer students by providing scholarships of £100 per year.

This can be a one-off contribution or an annual subscription.
