Hi, my name is Alicia and I study environmental science and management at the University of Newcastle in Australia. I will be undertaking my honours year studying the little forest bat to see how many little forest bats call the big forest of Smiths Lake home. I will be using radio-trackers to determine foraging habits and foraging range.
We have no baseline data for these little Microbats so we don’t know how they are being impacted by the changing climate. It is important to gather this baseline data for environmental management purposes.
If you have ever been bothered by a noisy night out camping or by being bitten by mosquitoes well you’re an instant friend of the little forest bay as these guys feed on moths, bugs and beetles including mosquitoes.
The Little Forest Bat needs your help! -
We are raising funds to acquire these radio-trackers. So become part of our team and help the little forest bat today by donating!
