Raising Funds for our Bridgie

Hi! I’m here to call in some financial support for my dear friend/artist/honey pie Bridgette. As many of you know, they have been experiencing multiple immediate familial deaths.

They had to spend their savings after the passing of their father last year, taking medical leave due to health complications after getting COVID, and after this sudden passing of their brother, they are needing some support in getting back on their feet financially after these profound losses.

During this year they’ve held multiple grief circles virtually and in person. Facilitated and designed a summer herbal education series for youth. Collaborated and cared for elders through their art practice. Provided herbal care to elders and community members experiencing loss. They were invited to their first group show at a gallery in Portland, and have been receiving incredible and encouraging feedback. Right now Bridgette’s art and community practice is what’s keeping her tethered and growing in life.

In the past year they have been working tirelessly to land on their feet as a self/community employed artist, grief, and care facilitator. In the time that they’ve been self-employed, they’ve been working deeply with elders and collaborators to sustain their work and have it be supported through larger funding. This takes some time and instead of going back to a 9-5 which would squash her ability to show up for her practice, her life, and her community she needs our support getting through this moment.

Bridgette’s rent is currently increasing. The money received through this fundraiser will support the coverage of funeral/burial expenses, day to day costs and rent/bills, recovering some of her savings to put toward getting a reliable car as well as provide finances for her to be able to access healing modalities such as acupuncture, massages, healthcare, and other bodywork which she has gone a year without.
