A Visit to Our Great Grandfather’s Village in Bangladesh

This summer, we visited our great-grandfather’s village, which is situated in Narandi village, Monohordi, under Norshindi District. The journey took two hours from Dhaka to Narandi.

Our great-grandfather, Alauddin Ahmad, was a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) in 1965, representing Monohordi, Balabo, and Kapasia Upazilas.

After spending some time in the village, we visited Jahanara Government Primary School, which was established by our great-grandfather. The primary school was founded in 1963 and named after my grandmother.

The little girls from classes 1 and 2 presented a very impressive program for Ilaan Ahmad, my brother, and me. In the large hall, the headmistress organized a reception party where my parents delivered speeches.

This primary school serves students from the Baby Section through Class Five, with a total enrollment of 210 students. We found the teachers to be very friendly and helpful. They presented us with gifts and arranged a variety of traditional village cakes for us.

After the primary school function concluded, we proceeded to the high school. The high school accommodates students from Classes Six to Ten, with a total enrollment of 380 students. This school was also established by our great-grandfather, Alauddin Ahmad, in 1963.

Every year, 35 to 45 students pass the Secondary School Certificate examination. Both schools are located in excellent locations and feature large playgrounds. Unfortunately, due to rain, we were unable to play outside.

We spent a very enjoyable day at both schools. The teachers and students were extremely courteous and welcoming to us.

For my birthday, we want to raise money for both of the schools to buy new equipment, books, art supplies, and science kits. Instead of giving gifts, we request you donate to our campaign.
