Raising funds for displaced Ukrainians by TukTuk
Donation protected
We are about to embark on one of the craziest events I’ve ever taken part in. Driving a tuk tuk with two friends Lucy & Dave, over some of the highest roads in world, scaling up and down the Indian Himalayas to heights of 5800m, and hoping our trusted tuk tuk will get us though the mountains, rivers, rain and on to the deserts of Ragistan , a journey of approximately 2200km, from Leh to Jaisalmer, over 12days. This is certainly going to be testing! This event has been set up by The Adventurists and about 20 teams take part. But don’t be fooled we are very much unsupported, with a start line and a finish line, what happens in between and where we go is up to us.
We have been raising money for charity for this adventure, and as we have hit our target of £500 towards the organisers chosen charity Cool Earth. We are now going to try and continue to raise money to support the orphaned children and displaced people of Ukraine.
My dad, Mike Abreu, since the war began has been taking medical supplies, clothing, sanitation, toys etc in person across the borders into Ukraine a few times a year. This has all ramped up now where he is going with 3 other vehicles 5-6 times a year, and they are delivering so so much more, putting themselves at risk and going further and further into Ukraine to help not only taking the items mentioned, it’s now bikes, computers, generators, you name it, if it’s helpful, they’ll take it. I know it’s changed him - and the people he has met - helping, that truly have lost everything are grateful of the support. Mike and his friends have been going these past few years with support from Wareham and Swanage Rugby clubs also St Mary’s RC and St Joseph’s in Poole. So along in support of our mad adventure and in support of my dad’s heroic one we are asking for any donation, little or large that we can send to Ukraine to help the suffering people out there. All money donations he receives will go to Caritas-Sokal charity in Ukraine, and any items delivered personally.
Dad’s next trip is September 27th, and they’ll be one in December also. To add, if anyone has any items they can donate in support we are always having donations dropped to the house or addresses in Poole, so if this is something that can be delivered to a Poole address please send me a message and this can be organised, but bear with me in the following weeks…I doubt there will be signal up them huge mountains, so maybe this will be useful for the December delivery.
Every bumpy mile we conquer will help the people of Ukraine. As I said any donation little or large, we would be very grateful of.
