My grandparents, who have spent their lives serving others and trusting God through every season, are now in a difficult one of their own—and we’re reaching out for help.
Earlier this year, my Grandaddy and Granny made a big move from Texas to Oklahoma to be closer to family. Before their Texas home had a chance to sell, they fell in love with a peaceful home in Oklahoma and decided to buy it, trusting everything would work out. But not long after, a tornado tore through their Texas property, leaving significant damage and making it difficult to sell. Now, with rising interest rates and storm damage, the home still hasn’t sold—and the financial burden is heavy.
In the middle of all this, Grandaddy was having a shop built on his new property—his dream space to work on his beloved woodworking projects. He found a local contractor who promised to build the barn affordably, but sadly, that promise was broken. The contractor mismanaged the funds, used lower-quality materials than agreed upon, and ultimately left the project unfinished. Despite paying more than the contract amount, Grandaddy is left with a partially built shop, missing trim, siding, doors, and more.
This man, a veteran and former pipefitter, worked hard until the age of 79. He has spent a lifetime giving to others—faithfully supporting missionaries, his church, and anyone in need. He and Granny pray daily for their family, friends, and even for the man who wronged them, hoping he’ll find redemption and integrity.
Now at 89 and 92 years old, they are still making the best of every day. They are doing their very best to remain active, and living life to the fullest—serving others and trusting God through it all.
But this situation has taken a toll on their health and spirit. What should have been a peaceful retirement has turned into stress, uncertainty, and heartbreak.
Now, we’re doing a “barn raising” the old-fashioned way. Our family and friends are coming together to help complete the shop with our own hands. What we need are the funds to purchase the remaining materials—metal siding, trim, doors, roofing supplies, and interior walls.
A good neighbor—another Godly man—has stepped in to help without expecting a dime. We truly believe the Lord placed them side by side for a reason. This is about more than a building; it’s about restoring dignity, peace, and hope to two of the kindest souls we know.
If you feel led to give, know that your donation goes directly toward helping a faithful man get back to doing what he loves—working with wood in his own shop, just as he dreamed. Any amount helps and every share matters.
Thank you for your prayers, support, and kindness.
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose."
Romans 8:28
