Lovely Friends and Community - Sadly, the recent storm was just too much for our beloved red barn and the entire center collapsed under the weight of the snow. This barn has been a place for community to gather since our parents moved onto the property in 1986 and has hosted innumerable weddings, birthdays, end-of-life celebrations, reunions, dances, bands, rehearsals, assemblies, fairs, festivals and games. It's been a place of joy, love and community and has slid open its massive doors to welcome people from around the world. When our parents saw the damage they both sighed with heavy hearts and went to work right away to clean and clear the space to salvage what they could and begin the work of making the space safe again. It was impossible to insure this barn and so there are no funds available to pay for clean up or replacement. We've gotten estimates of about $50,000 to rebuild. The family is committed to bringing this barn back to life to give a space to our community for generations to come. When we got overwhelmed, someone said to us, "If everyone who has even been to an event in your barn gave $1, the entire thing would be funded." So... this GoFundMe idea was born.
