Hello, my name is Miss Patterson and in 2017 my Dad who was in his 70's sadly was late-diagnosed with advanced-stage IV Prostate Cancer and after unfortunate surgery complications, in 2018 he tragically took his own life.
Motivated by my Dads tragic death, I begun on a self-healing journey and it seemed with my ability to open minds by creating conversations in my community, I felt ready to take things to the next step by putting a spotlight on Mens Health. I was determined to make sure other men experiencing, and families affected by a loved one with Prostate Cancer, don't go through what my Dad did, or I.
- I've continuously generated social media posts across public groups for over 5 years raising awareness
- Initiated 4 community fundraising events
- Been an ambassador advocating for Aussies health for other organisations
- Had multiple newspaper articles written about my initiatives
- Was offered a radio interview
- Raised over $7,300 for other organisations
- Gained huge traction of over 10,500 Australians signatures and educated on PSA testing, being one of the largest PSA Testing campaigns in the world
- Influenced 1 new Prostate Cancer care nurse to be allocated to the Shoalhaven
- Influenced the NHMRC’s review of the clinical guidelines draft so interested men aged 40 will be offered a baseline PSA test
- Sent over 74 emails to Parliamentarians with dozens of supporting responses
- Instagram messaged 75 Australian celebrity’s
- Gratefully received a Community Recognition Statement from our local MP and Mr Speaker
- Participated in a live TV interview
- Humbly accepted $100 from a kind-hearted generous stranger who wished to get involved. Their donation turned into a care package that was dropped off to 1 local recipient battling Prostate Cancer.
- Was invited to the local career and community showcase
And this is only the beginning. All in the name of my Dad, and You/r men!
Now, I'm raising funds for the startup costs of our new Prostate Cancer and PSA Testing Not For Profit, Incorporated Organisation; one to further benefit individuals, families, the community and our country. This concept came from wanting to do more but needing to be an organisation to achieve further goals.
Crowdfunding is not uncommon to utilise this service when trying to start up a grand mission for the greater good and it's been suggested as a great idea to do so for new organisations in particular. So I'm asking you to come together to make more of a difference in your region, to really be a change-maker which will follow reaping rewarding outcomes for individuals, families, communities and the nation.
From my influence, local residents helped me elevate the start of my independent impact when addressing the humanitarian issue, being lack of inclusivity for Prostate Cancer PSA Testing in the previous seven years outdated clinical guidelines for men from 40yo in Australia. I give my all to Prostate Cancer PSA Testing Awareness as I strive to exceed expectations, by championing life-saving change for Australian society. And I thank all my fellow supporters for thus far getting behind my missions.
With my life-changing, Innovative online petition to achieve goals, soon I saw the importance of a partnership with government, at all levels, extending my reach to both local and national in all electorates not just my local area where I'm a constituent. I addressed the current social, political, economic practices, and as a result Aussie men will be living longer, healthier and prosperous lives. My influenced change is a measure of my success in transformation of the way Mens Health services will now be inclusive by supporting men from 40 years old with PSA Testing, without compromising their futures. This encompasses Sustainability for the future generations of Aussie men, as my push has proven power to change stats and the lives of the real people behind each signature.
In order to be eligible for government grants to help fund future initiatives, which might I add our local MP is wanting to be the first to donate to this organisation, becoming an organisation will also enable us to be eligible to receive business grants from large companies, so we can give more support to Men struggling with Prostate Cancer, whilst raising awareness of PSA Testing, which my endeavours have proven there is a missed target audience in Australia.
How can you help? Invest in impact! Strong evidence suggests donating can improve mental well-being, reduce depression, increase longevity and offer a sense of purpose with connection to a community. I have been working to build inclusive and thriving communities
Connecting the Australian people over the past five years with power to bring everyone together through the spirit of my awareness initiative. I know the value of campaigns from some of the people who have told me I've helped, and they gave me over 10,500 reasons to continue to advocate for Aussie men and change behaviours to break stigmas, myths and fears. I made the most of my research findings through sharing the information that I learnt with communities because my knowledge is your power. And, for mostly preventable reasons Mens Health has been in crisis with outdated guidelines, so it was time to speak up as men are dying too young and I couldn't afford to stay silent when I am raising a young man. I had to shine a light and accelerate change with fast traction through my petition movement which started with just myself but now it includes strength of over 10,500 people and with my momentum thus far, I'm not finished yet.
The purpose of my work is to identify unmet needs, areas needing improvement, continuing to try to solve these problems, which has been key. United together, I've achieved so much for so many and through it all countless Australians have gained a lifetime of knowledge, but, we can do more.
My message has been clear, that Mental Health coincides with Physical Health, they go hand in hand. With 16.7% (or one in six) Australians having experienced suicidal thoughts or behaviours, Suicide Prevention too needs to be prevalent in conversations, consultations and the constitution.
My strong family values are the vehicle for everything I do with my commitment to Prostate Cancer PSA Testing, this keeps me focused on who I am as an Individual, a steering Community member, Australian, Daughter, and, a role model Parent; having already educated my young son about the importance of Prostate Cancer PSA testing when he is old enough.
My fundraising missions have been reported with full transparency to the community the whole way so the people could see their impact of their donations and how their support really is changing the lives of Aussie Mens Health.
Please note that should I not reach my total target, all donations would be onforwarded to an alternative registered charity.
What are you waiting for? Let's do this team! X
