A year ago, Calum and I, by pure chance, found ourselves in a small village in the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda. What was meant to be a week became a month, an experience that left a lasting mark on our lives.

During our time there, we worked on a project alongside local villagers restoring a neglected lake. We met some incredible people - including Allan, who I bonded with over a shared love of running.

Inspired by this connection, Allan has not only started the Ruboni Run Club, but has taken the initiative to create a running event.

On December 5, 2025, Allan and his community will host the Volunteers Run, a 5.85km fun run that promotes tourism, brings people together and raises money for the Volunteers Youth Group - a local group who lead vital projects like community clean-ups and elderly aid.

We’re backing them from Australia to help bring the Volunteers Run to life. Funds raised will go directly towards essential event costs - things like permits, safety equipment, signage, water and community outreach, ensuring the run can take place safely and inclusively.
