Hi, my name is Katie.

Earlier this year I was presented with an eye-opening experience to visit the Philippines in July, aided by ANCOP, (Answering the Cry Of the Poor).

ANCOP works to support poorer communities by providing housing, education, and hope to families living in poverty. Through this trip, I will have the chance to work directly with children and families, helping with community projects and so much more.

This trip involves helping some of the poorest communities in the Philippines, so poor that they don’t even have a social space to join with the rest of their community. With the help of ANCOP and fundraised money we plan on building them community hall, which will provide them with a permanent shelter, where they can all meet with eachother whenever they’d like.

Furthermore, on our visit, we aim on visiting multiple orphanages, where we will meet different people from different backgrounds, allowing us to experience unique cultures, and to also really see how the other half of the world is living.

This opportunity means so much to me because I want to grow not only as a student, but as a person. It will help me to step out of my comfort zone and understand different cultures, whilst serving communities that need support.
