Raise money for Team Verrico
My sister, Alice, died in 2022 at the age of 34 from breast cancer, just short of two years after she was diagnosed. It was not in any way Alice’s time, and I recall her spotting the symptoms and fighting for attention during the pandemic thinking “it’s nothing, surely”, but it turns out it was - a day I will never forget.
Alice left an unimaginable hole - she had a husband, Mark, and two (very) small children, Ralph and Winnie, lifelong friends and she was an every day part of my and my families life. She was a whirlwind; warm, energetic, opinionated, funny and loving of all things family (children and animals) and tradition. She left such a void for all of us. Our brother, Antony, died not long before Alice’s diagnosis of cancer and my Dad last year, both also taken by cancer, and they are all part of my story.
I came across Paul Verrico many years back having seen him doing his professional thing like the absolute superstar he is. I knew his story and having recently bumped into him I connected it to my own family. I then saw that he was recruiting for Team Verrico, to do The Great North Run in September. Here was a chance to raise money for the amazing work that Team Verrico does in memory of my beloved sister - and more useful than tears! I would welcome your support however small to help this fabulous charity to continue to support research and families affected by cancer.
