Raise Money for Leukemia & Lymphoma

On November 6th, both Chad and Dan are participating for the first time in the New York City Marathon on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (“LLS”) and Lymphoma Research Foundation (“LRF”). Please help us support these causes as well as see our stories and more about the foundations below.
Chad’s Story – Roughly 15 years ago, I lost my grandfather to Lymphoma. I watched him battle the disease for many years, round after round of chemo, before it eventually wore him down and took his life. At the time, I didn’t know much about Lymphoma but I saw it’s devastating effects first hand. My grandfather was a major inspiration in my life – he was someone I viewed as indestructible and his battle with cancer is a permanent memory for me.
Sadly, this has been a reality for millions of others who have fought and lost their battle Lymphoma and other blood-related cancers. Almost everyone wants the chance to take part in something that will impacts the world in a positive way and this year I will have that chance. I am super excited to partner with LLS for the New York City marathon, a charity that is helping advance 75% of the ~100 blood cancer treatment options.
Dan’s Story – As recently as this past year, a close friend of mine, whom I had grown up with, was diagnosed with Lymphoma. At just 24, he had no idea he had been living with cancer for years. This news devastated friends and family, as it does thousands of families a year. My friend, who has quickly battled cancer into remission, is doing well, but this news shocked us and led us to learn how many people are affected by this cancer.
Lymphoma affects millions of people worldwide and accounts for 1-in-5 cancer diagnoses among young people (over 70,000 cases per year). I’ve chosen to partner with these foundations because in addition to providing research, education, awareness & advocacy, both foundations offer patient and family support, helping those impacted by blood cancer diagnoses.
About LLS
Dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other blood cancers, we are now The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world's largest voluntary (nonprofit) health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Since 1949, we’ve invested nearly $1.5 billion in groundbreaking research, pioneering many of today’s most innovative approaches. We work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. And we are making an impact in the cancer community.
About LRF
It was 1995 when the founders of the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) realized its dual mission: to eradicate lymphoma – by funding innovative research – and serve those touched by this disease – by sharing research and treatment insights directly with the lymphoma community through national education programs and resources. Through lymphoma-specific research grants and consortia, LRF seeks to better understand the more than 100 subtypes of lymphoma and support the development of new treatments. LRF’s focus on supporting early-career scientists ensures the best and brightest remain in the field of lymphoma research so that innovation and progress continue. Simultaneously, LRF works tirelessly to help patients, survivors caregivers, and families understand their diagnosis and ensure they have access to the support and resources they need.
