Raise money for legal action against LBBD's CPZ Scheme
Donation protected
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) is enforcing an extension of its Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) across approximately 26 roads in the Chadwell Heath Zone. The overwhelming majority of residents and businesses within the vicinity of the CPZ are against its introduction. After a poorly executed consultation process during which no businesses were consulted and only a small section of residents were invited to give feedback; a staggering 80%+ of residents who responded to the council expressed their opposition to the scheme via the council's online feedback system. The council has ignored this data and face to face consultations with the council have also broken down with the head of the Council's Parking Division stating that the CPZ would go live on 23/06/2025 regardless of what the local community says or does.
The residents of the affected roads in Chadwell Heath including Businesses in the area feel that the council has failed them and feel that they have been left with no choice but to now make a formal legal challenge against the council on the grounds of a flawed consultation process, failure to listen to the community at large and adhere to their requirements and failure to identify and address the impact and risks of introducing the CPZ within the Chadwell Heath and Whalebone Wards and its affect on residents, businesses, visitors and the community at large.
Similar recent cases in the boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth have seen both local councils back down from introducing CPZ's and LTN's (Low Traffic Neighbourhoods) after residents have successfully mounted legal challenges.
We are now raising money from the local community and anyone interested in supporting us to appoint the same legal team that lead the West Dulwich Action Group to victory against Lambeth Council and or the team that led the Southwark residents to victory. The initial milestone is £12,000 with further fundraising necessary if the council does not back down and decides to fight us using our own (tax payers') money.
This campaign is being led by a coalition of residents and businesses in the Chadwell Heath area including Icon Offices and Romford & Ilford Family Chiropractic. Please donate generously. If we do not instruct the solicitors to take on the case, any donations made will be refunded.
