Hi my name is Paige a mother to 2 babies,

at the start of this year has been nothing short of devastating for me and my family, and I never imagined I would be writing something like this.

On 2nd January at 19:25, my children and I were doing something so normal—sitting together in our living room, watching TV, feeling safe in our own home. Without warning, that sense of safety was ripped away from us forever.

A Ford Focus driven by a young boy ploughed straight through our house.

The noise, the force, the fear — it all happened so fast. One moment we were laughing and relaxed, the next we were screaming, terrified, and trying to understand what had just happened. My children were inside the house when it happened. The shock and fear in their faces is something I will never forget. We are all deeply traumatised.

Our home — the place where my children should feel protected — was destroyed in seconds.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, along with engineers who had to shut off the gas and electricity because the car hit both the gas supply and the electricity box. We were told the damage to the structure is so severe that the house is now considered a high risk of collapse. We are not allowed to live in it, and not even allowed near it.

We left with nothing.

No clothes.

No personal belongings.

No home to return to.

We have been placed into emergency hotel accommodation, trying to comfort frightened children while having no answers for them about when we’ll feel safe again. Everything we knew as normal life disappeared in one terrifying moment. An investigation is ongoing, and the uncertainty is overwhelming.

I’ve always worked hard to provide for my family, and asking for help doesn’t come easily. But right now, we are starting from nothing — emotionally exhausted, displaced, and just trying to hold it together for the sake of the kids.

Any support, no matter how small, will help us cover basic essentials like clothes, food, temporary living costs, and help us begin the long road toward rebuilding our lives. Even sharing this page means more than you know.
