INTRODUCTION:
Hello everyone,
Let me introduce you to Jacob Grant Seltzer. Jake was born on May 28th, 2018 in Stratford Ontario. This handsome guy weighed in at 8 pounds 4 ounces and was almost 20 inches long. Jake was born to, two wonderful parents, Jen (Smith) Seltzer and Adam Seltzer. These two amazing parents both work in social services, dedicating their lives to helping other people who are coping with difficult circumstances.

ABOUT JAKE:
Jake turned 6 months old on November 28th, 2018. He is a happy baby who enjoys long walks, naps and car rides. He is very laid back, always smiling and talking. He loves to play with anything that makes noise, enjoys a good bounce in his jolly jumper and a nice bath at the end of the day. At nighttime, his Batman is always watching over him. With his beautiful big eyes and cheeky grin, Jake will steal your heart from the second you meet him.

ABOUT THE ILLNESS:
On September 10th 2018 Jen and Adam located a lump on Jakes abdomen. Over the next few weeks, jake saw many doctors and had to go through many tests. some of these tests included, X-rays, MRI's, CT Scans, blood tests, bone marrow tests, surgeries, biopsies and many more.
In October 2018 Jen and Adam's worst fear became a reality. Sweet Jake was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a very rare form of cancer, diagnosed in children and babies.
Jake is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and will continue to need treatment for months to come. He is a very sick boy, but he is being very strong and has amazing parents to support him. He also has the love and support of grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Everyone is rooting for Jake and we would do anything to support these beautiful people.

DONATIONS:
Jen and Adam would be the first to help anyone. They are both very involved in their community. Adam is the president of the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund in which they raises money for life saving Defibrillators in public spaces. He is also the co-founder of HASAR a much needed volunteer search and rescue organization. Jen has been on many community boards including Victim services.
These two amazing people have no idea this page is being created and would never ask for anything from anyone. They give so much to everyone else and there community and they expect nothing in return.
However, this situation is a financial burden as it would be on anyone.
- Gas: driving back and forth to Children's hospital in London, well over a 100km one way.
- Hotels fees and room costs at the Ronald McDonald House
- Food and Miscellaneous day to day needs
- Parking at the hospital
This list goes on, but those are a few of the things that increase the financial burden in this situation.
Just so everyone is aware I want to update a little bit more as to what the money raised will be used for. Not only will the money be used for ongoing financial costs associated with attending the hospital regularly and getting chemo therapy treatments but their is a life long road that Jake will need support with. Due to the treatment their are so many things that could arise in the future that will continue to require financial assistance. Jake will have life long medical appointments to ensure he is in good health should this course of treatment work. As a result of the treatments, Jake could experience side effects such as hearing loss requiring hearing aids, and vision loss requiring glasses. Jake also has tumours surrounding his spine that could result in mobility issues requiring wheelchairs and on going therapy. This list goes on.
However if this is a huge success and the treatment works for Jake. Jake's mom and dad have set up a trust for him. Every penny donated will go towards Jake's improved life. The account linked to this go fund me page goes straight into the bank account of the Seltzer family and they will utilize the funds only for the betterment of Jakes life and expenses associated to this terrible chapter of their lives.

Mama Jen having a cuddle.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Jake means so much to his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is a strong little boy, and his parents are doing their very best to support him. Despite their resilience, this journey can be very isolating and lonely, and Adam and Jen and their family would love to read your words of support and encouragement. If you can please donate to relieve some of the financial pressures, your support would be much appreciated.
Thanks you so much.
