raise funds to run & maintain the Allard CL rink.

Hello!

A great number of Allard community members have suggested we create this gofundme to raise funds for the running/maintaining of the community rink. I thought I would provide some back ground on this rink:

Typically for Commmunity Leagues, they first acquire a land use agreement from the city. Then, as a community league, begin gathering/saving funds from the operating grant and fundraising to build a rink. Our neighborhood was fortunate to have the developer build our rink for us and Blackmud Creek CL run it as the CL in charge. That all changed about 2 years ago when BCCL changed their borders.

Our steering commitee worked hard to create our league quickly in hopes of being able to keep our rink going for another winter season. We learned that there were limited possibilities on the financial portion of it before we had our first AGM. Post AGM, with an elected board, we are able to have a bank account and properly fundraise.

Seeing as that AGM is on Nov 22, and no bank accounts have been created as of yet I wanted to be fully transparent as to how the funds will be used, how they will be transfered and the reporting on how much money was raised for use.

All funds raised here will go solely to the maintenance for the Allard rink. It will not be used for anything else. Once the ACL has a bank account, this gofundme will be closed and proper fundraising will begin. When it is closed, a report will be written by myself documenting a final tally of raised funds. This will be given to the elected treasurer and will become part of the monthly financials.

I very much appreciate all who donate to this as it really shows how a community can come together. I hope this will be our first step forward in creating a vibrant, sought after community to live in rivaling the best leagues in the city.
