Railway Union FC - Barcelona Girls Cup 2025

Donation protected
The Railway Union U13 and U11 Girls’ Squads have been invited to play at the Barcelona Girls Cup 2025 taking place this June. This fantastic tournament offers teams from around Europe and further afield the opportunity to participate in a competitive, yet fun football filled weekend. A cultural and sporting event, the Barcelona Cup promotes friendship and inclusivity in a safe environment while fostering competitive spirit, a sense of fair play and love for the game.

It is well documented that this is a key stage for girls playing sport with many opting to leave it behind as they approach their teenage years. The value of participating in the Barcelona Cup which encourages comradery, teamwork and skill acquisition cannot be understated. Providing this experience of a lifetime will play a huge role in our endeavour to keep the girls within football.

To make for this happen for our teams, we need your help. We are seeking donations to cover travel expenses, team kit and accommodation so that every player on the team can experience this amazing opportunity. Any contribution, however small, will have a significant impact and will help create lifelong memories for these players.

About the Teams
Both squads compete in the Dublin and District Schoolboys’ and Girls’ League (DDSL).

Our U13’s - Having started their journey 3-4 years ago in Division 4, our 2012 Girls now play in the Premier division of the DDSL. They reached the final of the Division One Cup last season, the first Railway team to ever achieve this. They continue to make us proud every weekend in a very competitive League.

Our U11’s - The Railway Union 2014 Girls squad line out in three DDSL leagues every weekend, including holding their own in the top division at their age group. They and the 2012 girls are paving the way as the first ever girls football teams in the history of Railway Union Football Club.

About the Club
Railway Union Football Club is situated in South Dublin and is part of the Railway Union Sports Club. The club was founded in 1904 and was one of the founding members of the Railway and Steampacket Union. The club is vibrant and growing with over ten teams participating in the DDSL.
