Sterling Strong

Hi, we are Jon and Alysha Rael. We are husband and wife and together we have three sons, aged 11, 5 and 4, and we have a daughter who is 2. We are currently expecting our 5th child who is a sweet baby girl named Sterling. At our 20-week anatomy scan, we were referred to a pediatric cardiologist due to some concerns they found with Sterling's heart. On January 11th, Sterling was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and VSD.

Sterling will need open heart surgery soon after she is born and will require multiple heart surgeries throughout her life and as she grows. She is also at high risk of having a rare chromosome defect that will affect her developmentally, physically and intellectually. She will go through genetic testing once she is born to confirm the chromosome defect.

Alysha is required to relocate out to Colorado May 6, 2023 and is scheduled for an induction towards the middle to the end of May. It is unclear how long Sterling and Alysha will be in Colorado as Alysha has no plans to come back home until Sterling is ready to come back home as well. It could be months to a year.

With Alysha gone, we are losing her income and our family will be down to one income. We are asking for support to help our family as we will be dealing with medical, living and traveling expenses during the duration of our time in Colorado. We are unsure of what our expenses will look like but we are hoping to raise enough money to help us with the upcoming expenses of Sterling's medical bills, our living expenses (both home bills and Colorado lodging) and travel expenses (for Jon and our children to come out and visit both Alysha and Sterling).
