NCP & Tipp FM Marathon Fundraiser:
Tipp FM broadcaster Stephen Keogh, along with runners from the community are lacing up their runners for ‘The Radio Run’ on Friday, 23rd May. The 26-mile live-broadcast marathon will take place in Newport, home of Olympian Sharlene Mawdsley. All fundraising is in aid of the Newport Community Project (NCP), which provides fantastic facilities to Newport and the surrounding areas.
The Newport Community Project (NCP) development consists of:
- A 4 lane 200m tartan running track
- A 6 lane 60m tartan sprint track
- A long jump pit & shot put area
- A 65m x 35m astro turf playing pitch
We also aim to open a 500m walking track, which will be open for public access. Link to video detailing the NCP facilities and plans for future development: https://youtu.be/Q9ei9DcrTAs
There will be local athletes running 5k, 10k, half marathon distances as well as the full marathon. We will also have a celebrity ‘masked runner’, whose identity will remain a secret until the finish line- listeners can donate to submit their guesses! Stephen will broadcast ‘The Lunchtime Show’ live while running the full marathon, bringing Tipp FM listeners along for every stride, every story and every step of the journey, while raising funds for a vital local cause!
Ways to Get Involved:
- Sponsor a Mile: Local Businesses are invited to sponsor one of the 26 miles and get a special shoutout during the live broadcast.
- Donate: Support the runners, guess the masked runner’s identity or simply support a great local cause.
- Cheer Them On: Line the local route on Friday 23rd May to show your support and help create a memorable atmosphere
- Tune In Live: Listen to Tipp FM throughout the day for live coverage, updates, interviews, music and surprises.
