RadioGH Fundraiser

We write this post with a positive attitude but looking for your support!

"We really enjoy what we are able to offer with RadioGH providing music 24/7 for our tastes! With over 20 various shows and over 15 presenters putting together shows weekly for your enjoyment. No presenter involved in RadioGH takes any payment whatsoever for the shows that we provide and thus RadioGH legal requirements and running costs rely entirely on donations, for which we are always very grateful for.

Unfortunately to continue the success of RadioGH we are looking for your assistance in doing so.

To broadcast each day/week/month/year we have to ensure that we stay legal and above board and it is only fair to give you a realistic idea of what items cost to provide this voluntary radio station. To ensure that artists who have recorded works get the royalties they deserve we have to pay PRS over £400 each year.

To facilitate the ability to broadcast live music along with listeners pictures and provide a chat service we use a piece of software called Streamyard. This allows us to broadcast to both YouTube and Facebook as much as we need to. This costs in the region of £230 a year to broadcast on social media.

To provide a public webcast on the internet this is a license direct to PPL which costs in the region of £225 a year. Along with website fees, to ensure we have a site where listeners can access the player at any time of the day plus latest news, this costs £12 a month.

To then ensure we have enough Bandwith we must pay a streaming service of £18 a month to cover the listening hours that RadioGH produces. This is in the region of 10s of thousands per quarter. Prices are only going to continue going up

This does not take in the electricity, etc used to run the servers. You will be able to see that these fees soon add up for all these services which you get free of charge. These are bills that simply cannot be avoided.

RadioGH continues to encourage new presenters to join, giving them a platform for their shows. Pia Walker recently joined us to help advertise the Accordion and Fiddle Clubs & Dance scenes, with the addition of a weekly news slot.

If you are an existing donor to RadioGH I thank you so much for your generosity as it is through you that RadioGH continues to function. If you have not donated but feel you are in a position to make a donation towards RadioGH we would all be extremely grateful for any gift.

Some people have spoken about trying to set up a monthly subscription. We can now confirm this is able to be done through a site called Patreon which supports live musicians and podcasts.
