Since 2019 a small group of friends known as Fundraising In Motion Calgary has raised nearly $20 000 for two local community organizations near and dear to our hearts, the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) and the Calgary Ronald McDonald House.
We've raised this money by undertaking various extreme physical challenges, including two multiple day-long ultramarathons.
This year is our most exciting challenge yet.
This year we will be running over 16 hours around a track in Airdrie on the summer solstice. We will begin our run when the sun crests over the eastern horizon, and our run will end when it sinks into the western horizon. As the solstice is the year's longest day, we will be running more than 2/3rds of the day; our only breaks will be to stay fueled and hydrated and to answer the call of nature.
And this year, you will have the opportunity to participate! If you are interested in running with us for part of the day, all that we ask is that you raise donations before joining us, or if you don't want to run but would rather see us have to undertake additional challenges during the day's run; you will have the opportunity to donate the day of to stipulate things such as running laps with a weight vest, or running laps three-legged.
All the funds we raise will be split evenly between AARCS and Ronald McDonald House Calgary. You will be helping give homeless animals a second chance at a loving home and families to have a home away from home as they deal with the unimaginable situation of a sick child.
