David has experienced homelessness firsthand in Miami, which opened his eyes to the deep connections between racial inequity, unaffordable housing, and inaccessible health care. Through these challenges, David realized that homelessness is not simply a result of personal circumstances like addiction or mental illness, but is rooted in systemic injustices and racism. This understanding has motivated David, already a lawyer, to obtain a Florida law license and focus on public interest law to make housing a human right for everyone.

David is now preparing to take the Florida Bar Exam and launch the Florida Coalition to Advance Racial Equity. The coalition will leverage social impact litigation and advocacy to address urgent issues such as the criminalization of homelessness and the need for rent stabilization policies. By focusing on these areas, David hopes to create lasting change for communities most affected by inequitable systems.

Funds raised will help cover the costs of Bar Exam application fees, study materials, and the start-up expenses for the coalition.
