My birthday is January 12th and this year I do not want fancy dinners or gifts. Instead, please donate the equivalent to Rachel’s foundation, an orphanage in Nigeria.
During my recent visit to Nigeria, my life changed forever. I started to look for ways to impact the lives of others. I am still trying to figure out ways to make this impact. Most times I fail, and I feel like I am not doing enough. Other times I refuse to do anything because of fear.
I am trying to help Rachel with some supplies for the children in her orphanage. When I visited, they barely had food or supplies. Rachel runs this orphanage by herself with little to no help. She uses clothes as diapers and hand washes them. She cooks, cleans, and teaches the children how to read and write. The money I raise will help buy food, diapers, and mosquito nets to minimize the spread of malaria.
If you donate a dollar, you might think what can a dollar do? In reality, $1 is equal to 320(Nigerian currency). It can buy breakfast and lunch for a child in Nigeria.
I will be collecting these donations through the month of January. Instead of buying myself a birthday gift this year, I’ll use that money to match the total donations I get up to $1000. If I happen to get more than $1000, I’ll match the donations received over a period of time. All the money I get from this donation will be sent to Rachel. I will be uploading pictures and videos so you can see the difference your contributions made. This will be the ideal gift for my birthday.
