Rachel Runs 10k For(a) Good Cause

Dearest Family & Friends,

For the first time in a verrry long time (2015 to be exact), I'm running! I'll be running 10k on October 14th with my friend Harriette in London's Victoria Park. I won't lie, I'm a little rusty, but I'm also enjoying the excuse to get out there again and move - in my favourite season no less.

I'm also thrilled to be running for an amazing cause. Recently I joined the Board of a Toronto-based non-profit, Fora: Network for Change, and my goal is to raise $5,000 CDN for them. Any amount you can contribute would mean the world to me, and to all the brilliant emerging leaders they support.

Since 2009, Fora - formerly known as G(irls)20 - has been investing in young women and gender-marginalised youth to create more inclusive and equitable decision-making spaces. Their signature programmes (the Global Summit and Rise On Boards) are internationally recognised for their effectiveness - not only do they identify and nurture emerging leaders, they actually place them in spaces of power (think the G20, the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women, non-profit Boards across Canada, + more) and support them to influence for change. It’s an incredibly cool and unique approach that I’m proud to be part of.

I initially got to know Fora through work. In 2019, I led their strategic planning process and was blown away by their team and leadership. That project was a professional turning point for me, so joining their Board - and running this 10k - feels wonderfully full circle.

Here's Fora's website if you want to learn more.

Thank you for your support!!

Big hugs,
xx Rachel
