In October I will be volunteering my time and skills as a pediatric physical therapist in Port-de-Paix, Haiti with STAND for a little over a week. The cost of travel is expensive, but I'm committed to the cause and am excited to be able to provide care that is so desperately needed. 

STAND (Sustainable Therapy And New Development) is a physical therapy driven multidisciplinary team that provides life changing care in an environment unlike any most have ever seen: NorthWest Haiti. Volunteer teams consisting of physical therapists (like me!), orthotists, prosthetists, general medical staff, and students work very hard to deliver rehabilitative care to those in need, and always to the highest standard.

The population in this region is completely under-served and has very limited (if any) access to healthcare of all types. I’m certain my week in Haiti will be amazing and deeply moving, albeit exhausting. I have been assured that this is NO vacation and I will be working very long days  to help the local children and their families by providing hands on treatment, information, and training. 

I'm  asking for everyone's help, not just in getting me to Haiti, but in allowing me to treat as many children as I can in a loving, compassionate, and effective way. My goal is to raise $3000 to cover the cost of traveling to Haiti along with my stay there. Anything beyond that I will use to purchase additional medical supplies and equipment that are so sorely needed in Haiti, where there is no access to these things. I'm talking simple stuff, like pediatric size walkers, splints, braces, and even just the supplies to build makeshift versions of them. EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS.
