Nicaragua Medical Trip
Donation protected
As a medical student from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine I will be traveling to Nicaragua from June 24, 2017-July 1, 2017 with a group of classmates and physicians to provide medical care to rural and underserved communities. We are working with an organization called JustHope, who has partnered with the community of Chacraseca since 1998, with the goal of engaging in long term community development. Chacraseca is a small rural farming region outside Leon where access to medical care is difficult. We will be working in JustHope’s Chacraseca clinic, as well as traveling out to remote sites chosen by the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health.
Please join me in supporting the work that I will be doing in the underserved communities in Nicaragua by donating any amount you can to this GoFundMe page. As a medical student, my finances are limited, and your contribution will help me cover the cost for my travel expenses and fees. I set my fundraising goal at $1500, $900 for the trip cost, which includes finances for donated medications and supplies, and an anticipated $600 flight.
As a ‘donor’ you are contributing to the sustainability of JustHope’s work in the communities we are serving. Any support you can give will make a tremendous difference.
If you would prefer to make a tax-exempt donation to the entire group travelling to Nicaragua, please send a check made out to “UNECOM” with “Nicaragua Medical Trip” in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to Nicaragua Medical Trip, c/o Dr. Ryan Smith, Decary Hall Rm 34, 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, ME 04005.
Please let me know if you have any questions about my trip. I sincerely appreciate all of your support!
