Hey there…it’s Katie. This year Jacob and I were blessed to find out that we would be expecting a baby boy in September 2025. As exciting as this is for us, we are facing a number of challenges. My pregnancy is considered high risk due to my age and because of heart issues I am experiencing. Along the way we found out that I am in need of having my Tricuspid Valve in my heart replaced which means I will be induced sometime between 32-36 weeks so that my heart surgery can follow shortly after. This means not only will I be out of work for maternity leave (of which I do not qualify for FMLA or short term disability because I have not been with my work over a year…the required amount of time to qualify for such pay benefits), but I will also be out for my heart surgery. Although Jacob and I have been responsible with our finances, as it stands right now we will only make it through the month of August with all our bills paid. Come September we are going to need help so we decided to give the options of either helping with our baby registry items or donating to help us through the coming months until I can get back to work.
