On SUNDAY 12th OCTOBER, 6–11pm at BOXPARK Liverpool, I’m hosting a very special fundraiser in honour of my amazing mum, to raise awareness and support for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This cause is so close to my heart. Sadly, my mum’s illness is getting worse, and that’s why I feel more determined than ever to do something meaningful.
This event will be a true celebration of her life and everything she loves. Expect an unforgettable evening of dancing, live performances from myself alongside incredible local talent, and brilliant prizes to be won. It’s going to be powerful, uplifting, and full of music, joy, and love.
️All you need to do is come along, bring your friends and family, and join us in supporting such an important cause.
Marie Curie and the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) have been lifelines for families like mine.
• Marie Curie provides expert hospice care, nurses, and emotional support to people living with terminal illnesses and their families. They help more than 60,000 people in the UK every year, giving dignity and comfort at the hardest times.
• The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) funds vital research to find treatments and a cure, while also providing practical and emotional support to those living with MND.
Every day in the UK, around 6 people are diagnosed with MND, and 6 more lose their lives to it. There is currently no cure, which is why awareness and fundraising are so important.
Sadly, the Marie Curie inpatient unit in Liverpool has now permanently closed due to funding and staffing issues. That loss makes events like this even more vital, raising both awareness and funds to ensure families like mine can still access the care and support they desperately need.
For those who don’t know, my mum has dedicated her entire life to caring for others. She began her nursing career in Kuwait, before moving to the UK where she served for many years with the NHS. For over 30 years, she has worked long hours, often sacrificing her own rest and comfort to ensure that others received the care and compassion they needed. Despite her demanding job, she has always been the most incredible mother. No matter how tired she was, she never once missed a dance rehearsal or show for me and my sisters. That’s the kind of woman she is selfless, loving, and always putting others before herself.
Her journey has been full of courage and sacrifices.
She left her family behind in the Philippines to build a better life here for us, carrying with her the hope of creating opportunities that she never had. Everything she has done has been rooted in love, resilience, and an unwavering strength that has shaped us into people we are today.
To see our mother so strong, so giving, and so full of life - facing such a cruel disease is utterly heartbreaking. But even in the face of this battle, her grace and determination inspire me every single day. This is why I am determined to fight back alongside her to raise awareness, to celebrate her incredible spirit, and to honour the sacrifices she has made for her family and for countless patients throughout her life.
I truly can’t do this without the support of others. If you can help in any way, whether that’s donating, volunteering your time, spreading the word, or simply showing up on the night, I’d be endlessly grateful. Every little bit of support makes a huge difference.
Please save the date, come join us at BoxPark Liverpool, and let’s make this a night full of love, music, and hope <3
