Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are reaching out to ask for your support for our colleague and friend, Ramirez, who is facing an incredibly difficult and unexpected situation.

Ramirez has dedicated over 13 years to public service as a Correctional Officer, working in both the youth and adult systems. He has consistently carried out his duties with integrity and professionalism. Recently, Ramirez was involved in a situation which has resulted in his sudden dismissal.

This event has placed significant emotional and financial strain on Ramirez and his young family. He now faces the urgent need to retain legal counsel to challenge this decision and protect his rights and reputation. In addition, the loss of income is making it difficult for him to provide the basic necessities for his family during this time.

Ramirez is someone who has always shown up for others without seeking recognition. Today, he needs us to show up for him.

We’ve started this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden and give Ramirez the chance to focus on what matters most: securing legal support, caring for his family, and navigating the path ahead. What has ensued could happen to any one of us, especially when following direction of superiors. Standing together in moments such as this is how we protect each other and the integrity of our profession.
