My Volunteer Trip

As most of you know, I have been working towards my goal of becoming a physical therapist. I am still trying to get into PT school, but in the meantime, I have the opportunity to work alongside a physiotherapist in Kenya this summer. I will be spending three weeks in Kenya helping people with mental and physical disabilities. I will be assisting the families and communities by providing them with support and disability education. There is a lack of disability education and support in Kenya, therefore those with disabilities are hidden from the public by their families and don't receive the assistance they need. This trip will give me the opportunity to experience physical therapy in a way I would never be able to experience here.

The organization running this program is International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ). They have been sending volunteers to over 40 destinations around the world since 2007. I am very excited to have come across this program and cannot wait to experience physical therapy in a place with limited supplies and technology. 

Unfortunately, this trip comes at a  financial cost. I would love to be able to fund this trip personally, but being a starving graduate my budget doesn't allow this. I am hoping to raise $4,000 to cover the cost of the program and to be able to provide much needed supplies to the community. If you are willing to contribute to my trip and to those in need, any amount is greatly appreciated and no amount is too small!
