Support a Family in Need of Stability

Friends, many of you know about the young woman with kids we and some of you helped support at various times over the years. I had a GoFundMe for them maybe 6-7 years ago when she was struggling to make ends meet and you came through big time, helping her secure an apartment and furnish it. Without any family (her mom is deceased and her dad in jail) or friends to help her when she hits a financial rough patch, things can spiral out of control quickly and lead to lost apartments, lost storage unit contents, lost jobs (transportation and childcare needs are typically the reason for the last loss). We try to help as much as we can, but the need is much greater than we can provide.

In addition to not having family, her ex's family has been relentless in trying to keep her living situation unstable. I won't go into details here to protect her privacy. (For the same reason, I am not sharing a picture of her and her kids). My good friend in Chicago (whom a lot of you know) represents her pro bono in fighting back. However, they have once again made things impossible for her and she is at risk of losing the apartment that she finally secured after being in a family homeless shelter for some time.

Her kids were absolutely thrilled to see the apartment she rented but she is at risk of losing it after being hospitalized (I'm convinced this was related to the sheer overwhelm of her situation) and unable to work for over a week. They also have no living room or kitchen furniture. The kids have beds but she sleeps on the floor. When I talked to her last night she revealed that she didn't have any diapers for her youngest.

I am collecting funds for her and then we and anyone in Chicago that we can recruit to help us will help her find the furniture she needs, and she can get herself caught up on rent and bills and hopefully leave her with a small cushion for emergencies.

This person is a wonderful mom, a hard worker, and just can't catch a break in life. She is well-deserving of any help you can offer.
