Heart surgery expenses

Hello, I’m Jessica French big sister to Jennifer Hulen. If you aren’t already aware Jenn found out she had bladder cancer while pregnant with her second child, Aubree. She had surgery to remove the cancer while still pregnant. Fast forward a couple years and she got blessed with another baby girl, Nova. About 4 days after the birth of Nova she started experiencing chest tightness, discomfort and really bad shortness of breath! After some convincing words from her big sister, me, she went to the emergency room. A couple hours and a lot of testing later she was admitted for heart issues diagnosis unknown at this point. Two long days in the hospital, multiple doctors, test, pokes and prods later they finally diagnosed her with a birth defect in her heart where two pulmonary veins are connected to the wrong side of her heart making too much blood flow on that side essentially wearing out her tricuspid valve. Several more test have been run and she finally was assigned a surgeon in St. Louis MO who ironically just performed the same surgery on another patient in April. We feel very optimistic and confident with this surgeon and the surgeon feel great about her surgery going smoothly. She will have open heart surgery at the end of July to move the veins and patch those holes along with hopefully the repair vs replacement of her tricuspid valve. Myself, our mom and our dad will go with her for her three to five night stay in the hospital and surgery and we will all be helping to take care of her and her three kids during recovery. Due to her maternity leave and now COVID in her home she has no paid time off at work for surgery. These funds will simply help with everyday cost of living, bills and just cushion for her to have an easier recovery! Even a few bucks will help and add up.
