This is Charles. He used to live a couple of houses down and has been cutting my yard for the past 5 years. He and his wife recently moved to the downtown area but that doesn’t stop him from taking the bus all the way back to this neighborhood to cut his old neighbors yards. He walks the entire neighborhood (which is quite large) asking everyone if they need their yard cut. All he asks for is 20 bucks for the front and 20 bucks for the back.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen Charles and have wondered what happened to him. Just now, I go to pull my pint of ice cream out of the freezer and he’s standing outside about to cut my yard. I walk out there with a “Hey long time no see.” I immediately noticed he’s lost a ton of weight. Charles suffered a stroke recently and was also diagnosed with kidney disease and is on dialysis. He just got out of the hospital YESTERDAY and is out here trying to making money.
Anyway, he asked me if I knew anyone who needs their yards cut and I asked him if i could take his picture, tell his story, and see what I can do. So Facebook, do you need your yard cut? I will drive him anywhere in the San Antonio area over the next few days or hell, even be his permanent ride so he can pull his income. Let me know. If you live in the Marbach/1604 area, he can probably get it done today.
Charles is one of the sweetest kindest men I’ve met. It would be awesome if we could help him out.
I didn’t originally start this to ask for donations, but I’ve received so many messages asking where they can donate to Charles so I’ve started this campaign. I didn’t set any type of specific goal for any reason. Just want to help him as much as we can! Thank you all so much!
