As many of you know Liam is in the ICU at Boston children hospital. On Monday 3-6-23 Liam was rushed into Boston after a visit with his pediatrician. Christy and Marc have been back and forth between his pediatrician and twice to the emergency room at Lowell general where he was misdiagnosed for the past month. On Sunday 3-5-23 Liam woke up not being able to move or speak and his parents knew something wasn't right, especially a mother's intuition. When they arrived at Boston children hospital they rushed Liam in and did a cat scan right away. The doctor came in to tell them they needed to do an mri, their hearts dropped!Christy knew they had found something. The doctor confirmed they are pretty sure he has ADEM, which can be caused by a virus or mono but is very rare only 1% of cases turn into this. After waiting for test results, a spinal tap, and an mri it was confirmed it was ADEM. Liam had a viral infection for 3 weeks called CMV which comes up positive as mono but isn't, sadly he has a lot of fluid in his brain, neck, and spine. The doctors have started him on steroids and he has made progress, but it will be a long recovery for both Liam, his parents, as well as his big brother Isaac. Liam could be in the hospital from anywhere to 3-6 weeks which means Christy will be out of work until Liam makes a full recovery. Marc will be out to until Liam is moved out of the ICU. My name is Amy and I'm one of Christy's best friends. I'm trying to raise money for unexpected expenses, lost time out of work, and Liam's long recovery. The whole family has been an emotional wreck and anything we can do to help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
