Sarah's Fight of Her Life
Donation protected
It pains me to have to share with you that our beautiful Sarah suffered a heart attack followed by a massive stroke on December 15th 2023. Given her unique medical needs, she has been transferred to the UCSF Cardiac Intensive Care unit where she has been fighting for her life the past two weeks. The road ahead will be long and difficult but Sarah has already shown us all what a strong fighter she is!
Overcoming the odds is something Sarah has done her whole life. They didn't think she would survive at birth; they didn't think she would be able to care for herself independently; they thought her learning disabilities would prevent her from graduating high school or having a job. When she was first diagnosed with diabetes in 2008 by accident during a regular physical, they said based on her labs she should have been in a diabetic coma. They thought she would have permanent disabilities after her heart attack in 2019 (boy were they wrong, she has been in the best shape of her life these past 4 years). When she was finally diagnosed as a MOPD2 Prordial Dwarf in 2019 we were shocked to find out that the average life expectancy for a Primordial Dwarf was 30 years (she was already 38!).
We pray Sarah can defy the odds one more time, but this will be her hardest battle yet. As it stands today, she is on a ventilator and continues to have swelling in her brain from the stroke. As we patiently wait and let her rest and hope her body can heal and find a way as it always has, we find comfort in knowing how many people are in Sarah's corner cheering her on!!
We can see Sarah respond to our voices and we know she finds strength knowing we are here fighting with her every day. Sarah's road to recovery will be long and we want to make sure we can stay by her side. If you are able to help in anyway so that we can continue to make San Francisco our new home for the next few months, we would greatly appreciate the support. Please continue to lift Sarah up in your thoughts and prayers and also pray for Jane's strength in what has been the most difficult year of her life.
