Paving the Way

Hello Friends! As most of you know, I will be fostering my niece and nephew with the intention to adopt. It's been a long and grueling process, but I can see the finish line. Thank you all who have supported me along the way with kind words and actions.

I have to start by being transparent about how I'm feeling. I grappled with whether to proceed with a Go Fund Me, because besides being left open and vulnerable by asking for assistance,  I know that there are thousands of people who are also needing some type of assistance. Some, maybe more then us (especially after the recent shootings, Malibu fires, etc :(......)

However, I also know that in becoming a parent, we take chances and opportunities for our children.  For those of you who don't know my story, here it is (in brief).

In January of 2017, I had ansatiable feeling that something was about to shift in my life. I didn't know whether it was for the better, or for the worse, but I braced myself. In doing so, I realized that I needed to shift at a much more rapid pace; the journey of self care, of becoming more loving towards myself and others, of working harder for my goals....I faced full frontal. If something were to happen to me tomorrow, have I lived life to the fullest by giving back everything I could give? With this thought, I starting seeing a shift in my thoughts, and soon the actions started following.

Shortly after, I got news that my niece and nephew had been taken into foster care due to abuse and realized that the universe had prepared me for this. As saddened and angry as I felt, I knew I needed to kick into gear.

As I complete the required classes and all that being able to foster entails, I have discovered that there are costs along the way that the DCFS no longer helps with. Up until last year, DCSF would help families by donating furniture, smoke detectors, etc...but they have done away with that program.

Because the costs are exceeding the amount I can afford, I am asking for financial help or donations so that I can get everything in order for their arrival (and before the final walk through in early December). These are only some of the costs (rounded) and items I need:

Wall divider (make-shift bedroom because we lease a 1 bedroom condo): $3,000

Items I needed but have been donated (Thank you ALL SOOO much):

Twin over Twin Bunk Beds: $300
Mattress: $200
Stand alone closet: $350
Dresser (1 qty): $250
Linens (1 qty): $20
Pillows (2 qty): $30
Escape ladder: $35
Medicine Cabinet: $40
Door Alarm (1qty): $10
Child Safety locks (2qty): $10
