Giving Tuesday with Educate West Point
Covid-19 has changed the lives for many, and the Educate West Point (EWP) staff and students continue to adjust to the new reality!
The EWP team has supported community health during the global pandemic by distributing more than 300 hand washing materials, food for all 200 beneficiaries as well as additional community members, and provided learning materials so students were still engaging in learning at home!
Since September, we have cautiously opened up the Early Childhood Development Center and are supporting the students in the after school program as they eagerly await to return to school mid-December.
In other exciting news, EWP recently opened the first public library in West Point, filled it with books, and community members have already started coming in to learn how to read with our community education teachers!
Through all of it, we have been able to maintain active learning, staff morale, community engagement, and programs (with adjustments).
However, as many abroad face financial challenges we have also lost some critical funding. Approaching the next year, we are working to get ahead and close the $8,000 gap that still remains.
If you are able, would you be willing to contribute financially to support the more than 200 students in our early childhood program, after school program, and back to school programs?
We can ensure you that every dollar received is put to maximum use to benefit our students in West Point, Liberia (and is tax deductible to those in the U.S.)
Thank you all - Stay safe and stay positive as we will get through this together!
