QTPOC Family needs housing

Donation protected
This is an urgent call to raise funds ASAP to help a POC queer parent, their 14 year old trans son, and little doggo relocate for school and create their own stable housing. Please help them make the room they need for growth, education, healing and opportunity.

This parent has dedicated themselves to their communities. From operating a nonprofit organization to advocating to city council for community services, they have and will always stand up for necessary change. Striving to live a life based in love and understanding, this single parent and non-binary POC has indeed overcome a lot. They consistently shape their negative experiences into positive changes in their direct and greater communities.

Giving birth to the first of two children at age 17 this parent has faced homelessness multiple times, pulling double time most of their life yet constantly pushing onward and putting the wellbeing and futures of their kids first.

Their oldest son is grown and out of the house preparing for college. Their youngest son (14 years) is still at home and on a fast track to university. He’s found his passion in engineering and coding in addition to discovering a real knack for mathematics. He’s recently been accepted into an engineering academy for the 2019/2020 school year, bringing him closer to his dream of attending MIT for college. He came out as trans in 2015 and started the process of medical transition the following year. His parent and he are taking steps to arrange his top surgery by Summer 2020. Having a place to heal is incredibly important.

This fundraiser will provide that safe post-surgery healing place and will help them move close to their son’s new school, ensuring his access to the education he deserves.

How you can help:

These two have been planning a cargo trailer home for the last 3 years. They have arrived at a final plan that will let them live without the fear of eviction or the limitations of instability which prevent so many from seeking opportunities.  They have the know-how, tools, and assistance to execute this plan and are seeking the funds for both the trailer and the materials.

Click the link to go to their Amazon wish list  and to see the the trailer they need.  The estimated timeline for finishing the trailer is 5-7 weeks (it needs to be done before registration for school in August).

Please donate now and help this queer POC family relocate across their rural state to the new school with the peace of mind to know they can make themselves safe and comfortable. ANYTHING you can give HELPS. No amount is too small. Please DONATE now and SHARE this post.

They have plan to offer the plans and materials as a guide for others to be able to create more permanent and sustainable housing when they have completed the buildout.
