Dear Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. As summer draws to a close, I wanted to share an idea that a few of us have been discussing: coming together as a group to show our appreciation for Ben and Shannon.

As we all know, they are the heart of so many of our gatherings—from summer afternoons spent swimming and relaxing with a beer, to their unforgettable New Year’s Eve celebrations, and countless moments in between. They are endlessly hospitable, kind, and generous, always making sure everyone feels welcome and cared for. Many of us can honestly say that we trust them not only with our good times, but with our kids, which speaks volumes about the kind of people they are.

The truth is, Ben and Shannon continually put others before themselves. Whether it’s driving the kids around, hosting us on short notice, or simply making sure everyone is comfortable, they do it all without ever asking for anything in return. We thought it would be meaningful to give something back, even in a small way, to show how much we value them.

One idea that came forward is a donation fund. Ben has mentioned wanting a new barbecue for some time, and given the many improvements they’ve already invested in—like repairing their pool liner and other upgrades to keep their home welcoming—it feels like the perfect opportunity to surprise them with something they would truly enjoy.

Of course, there is absolutely no expectation to contribute. Whatever anyone feels comfortable offering, whether large or small, is more than enough. This is not about the amount—it’s about expressing our gratitude and giving back to two people who have given so much to all of us.

Perhaps this could even become an ongoing tradition, where we collectively find small ways to support them, just as they have supported us for so long. After all, who among us doesn’t have fond memories of time spent at the Postel’s—whether by the pool in summer, ringing in the New Year, or gathering for so many other special occasions?

Thank you all for considering this. No matter what, I think we can all agree: Ben and Shannon are exceptional people, and we are truly lucky to call them friends.
