Abeer’s family, consisting of 13 members, has been separated and displaced within Gaza. The children’s ages range from 1 to 14. The family includes Abeer’s mother, father, three brothers, and three sisters-in-law. They all lived together before October 7.
We came across Abeer a few weeks ago through her post, she was alerting everyone about her formal organizer, Nusaybah, who now goes by the nickname "Nabzee R." and has since changed her name to Amal Rajah. As the beneficiary, Amal Rajah has denied Abeer the money and blocked her. While still using the old campaign.
As you can imagine, Abeer’s situation is very tough and traumatizing. She fled with her small children, leaving only the clothes on their backs and being forced to leave her family behind. Abeer is going through severe depression and trying to support her traumatized children. She has no money to support her small family in Egypt or in Gaza.
Dealing with this betrayal from her former organizer has been another shock. Her story has deeply touched our hearts and left us wondering: How can someone be so cruel to vulnerable people?
We Olivia Lee Strogner Nisren Hassan and Carmelina Lazzarino with Olfat Haddad have set up this fundraiser to help evacuate Abeer’s family, starting with those closest to the border.
Here is the goal we have established after discussing it with Abeer:
1. Evacuate Mahmud (7 years old) and Lilian (1 ½ years old), along with their parents Baraka Salim and Fatema Ahmed, and Abeer’s parents Mahmud and Aysha. They are currently the closest to the Egypt-Rafah border.
2. Begin planning to evacuate another family unit with at least one child, also closest to Rafah.
3. Ultimately, evacuate the entire family.
All funds from the donations will go directly to Abeer Salim. The entire family will need close to $108,329 for their evacuation. We will increase the goal as we get closer to evacuating more members of the Salim family.
Here’s Abeer’s story in her own words, shedding light on her family’s journey and their current life in Palestine:
"So, to everyone who cares about humanity,
I, Abeer Salim, write to you in a time of dire need. My family of 13 is currently in Gaza, including my 3 nephews and 2 nieces. They are facing unimaginable circumstances and desperately seeking your support to help them evacuate to safety. My parents, Aysha and Mahmud, my sisters-in-law, Hanadi, Fatema, and Fatema A, and my brothers, Said, Motaz, and Baraka, are all in need.

I am currently in Egypt, having come here during the war. I feel helpless while my family endures the hardships of the crisis. The situation has worsened, and I fear for their safety every day. Since October 7, our home has been bombed and demolished. The occupation forces directed them to move south. My older brother was rescued from under the rubble, but he was badly injured and unable to walk long distances.
My family has been evacuated to the south, like most people, and has had to move multiple times until they landed in Rafah. Now, part of my family remains in the North, while the rest are separated elsewhere in the South.

In February, my older brother was shot by IDF occupation forces, with a bullet entering his back and exiting through his shoulder. My second brother has fallen ill due to the dire environmental conditions and has been diagnosed with hepatitis C. Up until this moment, Since October 7 I have lost 75 of my relatives.

Evacuating and obtaining permits to leave Gaza costs approximately $8,000 per Adult and $2,500 per child. Your donation, no matter how small, will make a significant impact and help reunite my family in a safe environment. Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and colleagues to help us achieve our goal and bring my family to safety.
We wanted to help Abeer, so we reached out to her to get to know her better. After completing our verification process, we set up this GoFundMe campaign. Since then, we have been in daily contact with Abeer, coordinating efforts to support her and her family.
All the money collected through this GoFundMe will be used to help evacuate Abeer’s family, as outlined above. This is the primary goal of the fundraiser. Abeer will be utilizing these funds and coordinating with Ya Hala Travel Agency for the evacuations as soon as the company resumes working. These steps will be repeated as we continue to collect donations and reach the necessary amounts to evacuate each family unit.
We live in Toronto, Canada, and North Carolina, USA. If you would like to verify the legitimacy of this campaign further.
