Help Afghan Refugees
My name is Taiba Qaaderi, I am an Afghan American in Portland, Oregon. My family and I fled from Afghanistan 26 years ago during a war. We practically had nothing, except the one pair of clothes. Running away from the terrorists with no shoes on, I was 3 months old and had only a blanket wrapped around me. If it weren’t for some people’s help, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I have had the chance to receive education, to live free, and to have the rights as a woman that other Afghan women do not possess.
Currently, Oregon’s governor, Kate Brown, is welcoming refugees from Afghanistan. These families have escaped Afghanistan with no clothes, money, or resources. To help as much as I can, I am asking for donations just so they could slowly get back on their feet. These refugees have babies and children with them, and most of them have nothing but the clothes on their backs. I have also experienced coming into this country without anything, so I know how hopeless it feels to flee your home country with nothing. I am asking on behalf of the Afghanistan refugees for any donations- whether that be money, non-perishable food, clothes, etc. I understand if making a donation is not possible right now, but please do all you can to spread the word and help these refugees in need. They will appreciate anything. Let’s just welcome them with open arms.
You guys can donate anything such as:
Food
Toys for kids
Diapers
Clothes for children and adults
Blankets
Shoes for children and adults
Bathroom essentials
Feminine hygiene products
Thank you so much for reading, and again, I truly appreciate anyone that helps.
