My nan was called Marlene Book, she was the Queen of our family. She was Sassy and Funny and a joy to be around, everyone she met loved her. She was the rock of our family and was always there for us. She sadly got diagnosed with dementia three years ago. It changed everything and bit by bit we started to lose our precious nan. First she became a bit forgetful and then a bit muddled with day to day activities, then the confusion came of not knowing why she couldn’t remember that her house was her own. She had started to ask for her mum who had died 20 years ago. It became very clear when she needed help with day to day care that our family needed some extra help, that is when we found Forget me not. This non profit group for people with dementia helped not only my family but so many other families too. They provide day care for people with dementia. My nan deserved nothing but the best and the care they gave her did not fall short. My Nan loved attending, they had so much fun and always came out with a big smile on her face. These women are the most dedicated individuals who genuinely love the men and women that attend the club, and the care does not stop there, they also help the family members of the attendants with advice and support. I honestly don’t know what we would of done with out them. My Nan sadly passed away in April and we are desperate to raise this amazing club some money to say thank you and to help them carry on their magnificent work with the dementia community.
On 24th September we will be holding a family fun day at the Longwell Green community centre Followed by, Sim, Ruth, Abbi, Alex, Chloe and Phoebe doing a sky dive on 25th September.
Please show your support and come along or donate or both. Please help support this outstanding club.
