Hope Youth Corps (HYC): 2017 Typhoon Rehabilitation Work (Ormoc, Philippines)
These funds will be used strictly to build homes and assist the homeless in Ormoc NOT to cover the costs of my trip. I will be traveling to the Philippines to rebuild these houses.

"The generous themselves will be blessed, for they share their food with the poor." (Proverbs 22:9 NIV)

My Story:
Earlier in the year of 2016, I was able to travel to the Philippines. It was such an awesome and humbling experience especially knowing that my dad grew up there. He has always been dedicated to helping his family living there and volunteering in areas of poverty. Until my trip there, I did not understand the true meaning of even the littlest contribution helps. Growing up, I have been very fortunate to experience the things I have experienced, to have the things I have and to live the way I live. This trip really helped me see the world through a different lens and understand my dad's urgency to help. He sends care packages to our family there, he donates and raises money to give, and he travels there to do the needed hands-on work. Now, I plan to give back to communities in the Philippines by rebuilding homes where typhoons have struck. I am trying to help rebuild at least five homes which will cost about $5,000 (approximately $1,000 per home). Also, I will help donate to help each family have a Christmas along with providing a fun and unforgettable time for the kids. I would really appreciate your financial and/or spiritual support, and I understand if you are unable to donate to my cause. Any amount makes a big impact, and I am very grateful for all of the support given. Please share this campaign with any friends and family or to whoever would love to support and encourage the less fortunate in Ormoc, Philippines.

Description of the Program:
The Centers of HOPE offer an array of community and family support services including and nutrition, education, family development, livelihood supports, disaster management, as well as advocacy and child protection services.
Every year, the poor suffered homelessness due to heavy typhoons and poverty. In 2013, Super typhoon Haiyan destroyed 90% of the houses and livelihood facilities in Ormoc City and only a few received help to rebuild their shelters and livelihood. HOPE worldwide was able to help support more than 200 poor families in the rebuilding of their houses and livelihood in Ormoc. Using the funds accumulated, I plan to help rebuild homes in a destroyed village.

As an HYC volunteer, I will also assist in child protection. Child sexual abuse is one of the issues that the children face. Alongside the relocation of families, it is also a necessity to prepare and equip the children on how they can protect themselves from possible abuse. Through fun puppet shows and interactive games, the Child Protection Project will be implemented to help educate the children about the safety measures that they need to learn to protect them from abuse. HYC Volunteers will be assigned to do puppet shows and facilitate fun games and interact with the children.
