Hello, my sister, Rena St. Lawrence, is 100 years. I am veteran and serving as her primary in-home care giver along with the help of nursing assistants that come in the home daily. Rena has dementia and was mobile and able to feed herself until a recent fall. She had a medical procedure to fix her hip in order for her to be able to walk and will need rehab for several weeks.
With the rising cost to maintain our home in Brooklyn, NY where she has lived for over 65 years and non-payment of rent from our lone tenant along with the moratorium on evictions for non-payment of rent has left me and my sister Rena unable to cover the cost of our monthly expenses including property taxes, funeral and burial insurance premiums. We both receive social security income each month which is no longer enough to cover our living and medical care expenses.
Rena is a caring woman with a beautiful soul who has always helped others. She was a nurse aide for 20 years and a foster mother from 1960 through the 1990s until her husband passed away. She was active in her church and cared for and housed children and young adults including a family of 5, family of 3 and many individual children. Rena is loved by all who know her. I am asking for your help, so we can continue to care for my sister at home where she is most comfortable.
