Bring Hope to Ryan’s Family

Hi, my husband Ron is Ryan’s dad, and I am his stepmom. We have watched this family go through devastating medical issues this past five months, with more to come.

Ryan will have extensive surgery tomorrow to fuse five discs in his neck and back, C4 to T1. Ryan was quickly losing the use of

his hands, first the right and now the left as well. A simple hand surgery was performed in March of 2023, and after several months of PT, it was determined the problem was far more serious, indicating permanent nerve damage and the urgent need for more surgery.

Ryan has not been able to work since March, and after this extensive surgery, won’t be able to work for at least another 6 months, and probably a year. Ryan prays that he will be able to return eventually to his position as conductor and engineer for a privately-owned Iowa railroad. Ryan’s wife Jackie is a para-educator. Their older son Cole will begin college this fall, and their younger son Isaiah will begin high school.
