*If you cannot donate at this time please share* Hello friends, family, associates, and kind strangers! I created this GoFundMe campaign for my sister, Felicia, who never allows herself to ask for help.

Those of you who have been lucky enough to meet my older sister know she’s supportive, dependable, loving, giving, fun, goofy, passionate, extremely hard-working, and a big ball of light and happiness. Even in her worst times she’s putting the needs of others first and making sure you’re cared for and feeling supported. 

Nearly a decade ago, my sister had the misfortune of being at the wrong place at the wrong time and was targeted by a group of known White Supremacists. This Menifee-man and heroin addict viciously attacked her from behind resulting in multiple lacerations, 12 stitches in her lip, and a missing front tooth. 

It took multiple years and several surgeries to get her mouth back to a functional state.

But the damage from that attack did not stop there. 

Since the incident, she has had to undergo 7+ EXCRUCIATING surgeries, implants, root canals, apicoectomies, prescribed medications, steroids, and then some, adding up to over $20,000 – all in an attempt to save her front teeth and to cure the infection that began to cause sepsis (a life-threatening infection of your blood). 

The people responsible for the incident were arrested and convicted of a hate crime and ordered to pay restitution. However, despite the man having priors for related crimes, no jail time was ever served and restitution was never fully paid, leaving my sister to cover the majority of the costs by herself. 

This Christmas, Felicia began to develop extreme symptoms AGAIN that sent her back to the oral surgeon. Turns out, her front teeth are abscessed, loose, and have to undergo yet ANOTHER double apicoectomy – but this time with an added bone graft and membrane (I would advise NOT to look up this surgery as it’s truly graphic ). 

This damage and diagnosis have been confirmed by her dentists, endodontists, and oral surgeons to be a DIRECT result of the physical impact she experienced that day. Her oral surgeon has said that this is the LAST attempt at saving her front teeth before having to have them extracted—equally even MORE costly surgeries. 

My wonderful sister is having debilitating headaches, tooth pain, jaw pain, breathing issues, and has even developed MRSA because of this, despite her best efforts to take care of it. Unfortunately, her medical/dental coverage has not been able to cover the majority of the cost, so she is forced to live in severe pain and fear of what will happen should the infection spread. 

Felicia deserves justice because this unfair situation has put her back for long enough. My sister will probably kill me for posting this but I can’t sit by and watch her struggle for something beyond her control. No one deserves to go through this, especially someone as good-hearted as her. 

I figured we, as her community, can come together and help her during this hardship and return the kindness and support she has given to so many of us.
