Hi, my name is Kristina and I’m a single mom of an amazing 15-year-old son. We have been fleeing a domestic violence situation, and for the past few months, I have done everything I possibly can to find help and resources. Unfortunately, with the government shutdown and with it starting to get cold, we have been unable to find housing. I don’t have any family except my son and an aunt. My friends and my aunt have been trying to help us, but taking on a mom, her kid, and our service dogs is a lot. So I have prayed and prayed and prayed. I am working 2 jobs. I’m having to come up with almost $100 a day just to keep us in the motel. It makes it impossible for me to save up any money for a deposit and first month's rent. We sleep in a motel when we can. We are doing everything we can, but even if I found a place tomorrow, I can’t get in because I don’t have enough for the security deposit and first month's rent, plus the $4000 I have to come up with just for us to survive. So before I lose my kid and my service animals, I thought I would reach out to see if anyone would be willing to help us earn money for the deposit so we can finally get into a place. Once we get into a place, paying rent is no problem. I’m desperate, and I will do anything I have to do so we can try and keep our family together.
