As a father, Marcus is a hands-on, devoted girl dad. He reads bedtime stories and teaches his daughters about the Lord. The girls love their dad, and he used to take them everywhere. Marcus is the go-to person, always offering the best advice, never raising his voice, and speaking softly to his daughters.
He takes excellent care of them and is a loving, supportive husband—a godly man who allows his wife to be herself. He remains patient, has provided for his family, and believes in his wife's dreams. He's always encouraging, and he's been a faithful husband for 20 years.
He's a man of faith who used to actively spread the gospel. Whether it was through his visits to Cook County jail to preach or reaching out to people on the Metra with gospel tracks and Bible studies. His life was a true testament to his hard work and love for his family and God. However in 2014, tragedy struck and he had a seizure right in my arms.
He was later diagnosed with cancer and now continues to fight for his life daily. After his brain surgery, life seemed to be improving, but in 2017, another seizure occurred, leading to further brain surgery in December 2018. Subsequent surgeries followed due to the cancer’s persistence, with the latest in September 2021.
In May 2023 he suffered a stroke, worsening his condition. Despite this setback, hope remained. However, in August 2023, the doctors delivered the heartbreaking news that the cancer was terminal, and Marcus entered hospice care. Sadly, this loving man, husband, father, brother, and my best friend can no longer communicate, pray, or engage with his beautiful daughters as he once did.
This wonderful loving husband, father, brother and best friend can no longer speak like he used to, by the grace of God he can still comprehend. He can no longer pray aloud like he loved to do although I’m sure he is praying on the inside.
This brings us to our need. Since he had to stop working, we live on my salary but it is limited. We have enough for rent and food, but I don’t know how we will pay for his medical bills or more. Eventually my job will be enough, but for now, it simply isn’t.
We are asking for your help as our financial resources are low, and we have sought assistance but have faced many difficulties. While we have each other's support, your generosity can ease the financial burden that comes with such a challenging journey. Your contribution means the world to us during this difficult time. Thank you for considering our plea for help. We are immensely grateful if you are able to help us.
